Hey, hello hello… My name is Chenube-Ruth Bailey, I am the Creative Producer at Trybe House Theatre, a proud plant Mum and huge musical theatre nerd.
After completing a rigorous three-year Higher National Diploma (HND) in Musical Theatre back in 2015, I quickly discovered that, while being in the spotlight was cool, my true passion blossomed when working behind the scenes, collaborating with like-minded individuals. Consequently, I sought out roles that allowed me to seamlessly intertwine creativity with community engagement. During my time as a Graduate Intern at Trinity Laban, I assumed responsibility for their Youth Programme, where I organised pivotal events such as the Lewisham Live Festival. This hands-on experience became a catalyst for my subsequent role at Greenwich Dance, where I transitioned from Community and Outreach Coordinator to Producer.
At Greenwich Dance, I spearheaded a myriad of projects, ranging from a prestigious fundraiser at Charlton House which brought together wine tasting and live performance, to co-producing an intergenerational dance piece such as “GRACE” at the 2020 GDIFestival, a high scale, outdoor event in Woolwich and performed in front of Luke Jerram’s art installation, In Memoriam.
These endeavours not only showcased my ability to curate exceptional cultural experiences, but also underscored my dedication to fostering connections within the community.
In parallel, I explored the world of casting for Film/TV and Musical Theatre, expanding my skill set and obtaining credits to include Crazy for You at Chichester Festival Theatre under Jill Green Casting and ITV’s Breathtaking with Des Hamilton Casting. Each casting opportunity provided invaluable insights into the industry and enriched my creative palette.
My journey has been defined by a genuine appreciation for the transformative power of the arts and a steadfast commitment to amplifying voices within our community. At Trybe House Theatre, I serve as the creative “heartbeat”, leading a team dedicated to supporting the mental well-being of young black men. Together, we use theatre as a vehicle for empowerment and self-expression.
Beyond the spotlight, my professional experiences have afforded me the privilege of witnessing the profound impact of high-quality arts and cultural experiences firsthand. From the joy of participants to the awe of audiences, each moment reaffirms my belief in the transformative potential of the arts.
As I continue on this dynamic journey, I am inspired by the opportunity to create meaningful connections, foster artistic excellence, and champion positive change.
