What is The Trybe?

A culturally specific, youth-centred theatre and wellbeing organisation for young Black men

Trybe House Theatre is a unique arts organisation. It's a space where young Black men can be creative, be challenged, and be themselves through workshops, programmes, and productions.

The work sits at the intersection of theatre, wellbeing, identity, and community. Everything begins with a group of young men in a room, making something together.

Why it matters

Young Black men deserve spaces that start with invitation, not intervention.

Too many young Black men are offered programmes designed to fix them. THT starts somewhere different: with creativity, trust and collective making.

The results: stronger mental health, new creative skills, pathways into education and employment, and a community that shows up every week.

When I began in the industry, I felt there weren’t many spaces where young Black men could show up fully and express themselves, […]

Why Wellbeing Comes First: Stefan’s Reflection

When I joined Trybe House Theatre as Wellbeing Lead, I’d spent years working in clinical and statutory settings, CAMHS, Youth Offending Services, Catch-22. I’d seen what happens when young people fall through gaps in the system: how quickly disengagement hardens into distrust, and how rarely the right support reaches those who need it most. What […]
