What is The Trybe?
Trybe House Theatre is a unique arts organisation. It's a space where young Black men can be creative, be challenged, and be themselves through workshops, programmes, and productions.
The work sits at the intersection of theatre, wellbeing, identity, and community. Everything begins with a group of young men in a room, making something together.

Written by Richard Adetunji. A bold piece of new writing placing the character of Ego on trial. Developed at the National Theatre over a year-long R&D and presented for a sold-out run at Collective Fringe Festival, with academic presentations at Cambridge and Royal Holloway.

Why it matters
Too many young Black men are offered programmes designed to fix them. THT starts somewhere different: with creativity, trust and collective making.
The results: stronger mental health, new creative skills, pathways into education and employment, and a community that shows up every week.

I’d seen what happens when young people fall through gaps in the system: how quickly disengagement hardens into distrust, and how rarely the right support reaches those who need it most. What […]
