Philip J Morris worked as a Trainee Director at the Royal Court Theatre, where the idea for Trybe House Theatre was first conceived.

The Royal Court Theatre is the UK’s leading theatre dedicated to new writing. Philip J Morris worked as a Trainee Director at the Royal Court, and it was towards the end of his tenure there that the idea of founding Trybe House Theatre was conceived.

The Royal Court’s commitment to discovering and nurturing new voices directly influenced THT’s own approach to developing original work with and for young Black men. The relationship remains an important part of THT’s artistic lineage.

Working with THT showed us what radical creative access looks like in practice.
