Who we reach
Young Black men across London
Our work reaches young men aged 18 to 26 across London. We've connected with participants from Southwark, Hackney, Lambeth, Newham, Croydon, Islington, Haringey, Hammersmith and beyond, meeting people where they are, in spaces they already trust.
The young men we work with are navigating complex realities: school and life transitions, economic pressure, mental health challenges, questions of identity, and limited access to creative industries. Many who start with us have never been involved in theatre, and have rarely seen themselves reflected on stage.
That's why we're here. To create the conditions where they can discover their voice, build skills, and imagine futures where they belong.
What matters

Confidence
Participants report measurable increases in self-confidence, belief in their abilities, and willingness to take creative and social risks.

Skills
Training in voice, movement, character work, improvisation, and collaboration. Real skills that travel into arts careers or other fields.

Wellbeing
Creative expression, peer support, and mentorship provide measurable improvements in emotional resilience and wellbeing.

Belonging
Genuine belonging in culturally specific spaces. Friendships, mentorship, and a sense of "my people" that transforms lives.

Progression
Through partnerships, mentorship, and networks, participants move into further education, creative work, apprenticeships, and employment.

Leadership
Participants take ownership of their creative work, mentor newer members, and lead in original productions.

It was amazing to explore the power in our writing and acting. Seeing the differences, but also the collectiveness, brought a lot of power, energy and laughter.

It's been a long time coming, just to be in a room with young Black men, and hopefully it continues to grow with even more of us in these spaces. I hadn't written in a while, but the intensive week allowed me to play with so many ideas. It made me want to get back into my theatre-making again. We were given so many tools and the opportunity to just play.

From Trybe House, the skill I gained was being able to unapologetically be myself, without worrying about being more or less than anyone else. It's allowed me to build new connections within the group and bond over things I never thought I would, whether physical, creative or personal. Trybe House has really supported my mental wellbeing, I've been able to better understand what's going on in my mind without feeling guilt or shame.
