Paines Plough

Award-winning UK touring theatre company. Co-producers of SESSIONS by Ifeyinwa Frederick (directed by THT Artistic Director Philip Morris), which toured the UK in 2021 before a Soho Theatre run.

Paines Plough are one of the UK’s leading touring theatre companies, with a reputation for championing new writing and making it travel.

Our partnership began in 2021 around SESSIONS by Ifeyinwa Frederick: a raw, funny deep-dive into the complexities of masculinity, depression and therapy, co-produced by Paines Plough and Soho Theatre. SESSIONS was directed by THT Artistic Director Philip Morris. The play toured the UK from 28 September to 31 October 2021, then ran at Soho Theatre from 8 November to 5 December.

Alongside the tour, Trybe House Theatre delivered a programme of workshops to Paines Plough’s national audiences. Meeting young Black men around the country, we engaged the play’s themes of mental health, masculinity, and the quiet work of asking for help.

Working with Paines Plough brought THT into rooms across the country and gave participants exposure to one of British theatre’s most respected new-writing companies. The partnership remains a touchstone for the kind of collaboration we want to build: nationally significant and rooted in genuine community connection.

We're partnering with Trybe House Theatre, a newly formed company which seeks to actively build resilience and self well-being, particularly with young Black men aged 16 to 25.
