Who I Am…
My name is Philip Morris and I am the AD of Trybe, theatre practitioner, theatre-maker and a grime historian.
I create, deliver, and develop Trybe’s yearly programming alongside my team. I direct the shows that we make and hold relationships with our partners.
Trybe for me is everything I wish I had in my early career of discovering theatre. Back when I first got into theatre, it felt like quite a lonely place. I was often the only black male in a theatre space whether that be creatively or just watching a show. I yearned for mentorship from someone that looked like me or maybe had a similar experience to me. Fast forwarding to now and seeing up to 20 black men in one space being able to share their story, finding guidance in each other and watching shows together is exactly what I needed and I am super proud to see today.
